Merry Christmas 2012, Mom.
Welcome to your new home. It was just a few hours ago that I sat in my room, preparing to wrap up gifts for everyone tomorrow morning. I was excited this year for Christmas, in a new way than before. Since about a month ago, I have felt the urge to give not simply for the sake of the holiday, but out of a place of worship. I didn't want to give you just anything; I wanted you to have something directly from the Father's heart. Just one hour ago, it was that very heart that began to beat in me, and the results are here, unfolding.
You give so much. Your heart is so tender, so sweet towards others. Just in the past week, Amanda's Healing Hearts has delivered close to 500 presents to CHOP and has collected close to $2000 in donations for the non-profit itself; one mom has been brought to tears by the generosity to her son in the hospital and the extra Sandy relief cash; another couple sat in our living room today, experiencing the warmth and the comfort of a God who was close to them during difficult times. Earlier this fall, a team from the Carolinas was housed and fed by your generosity. This Christmas, an entire town celebrated their annual candy cane hunt, simply because of your connection and willingness to help.
You are a beautiful woman, Mom. This town, this area, this world, would be a different place without you.
This blog is for you. Simply for you. You often get the short end of the stick--meals last, dirty dishes, and leftover toys to pick up. This blog, this spot, this place of personal dedication, is for you. You are first, here, Mom. My prayer is that this becomes a place where you feel appreciated, affirmed, and valued. Be honored. Be blessed. Today, I am the woman I am because of you.
I know that the desire to feel appreciated, noticed, and valued has so heavily been on your heart.
Continue to delight in the Lord. Prepare yourself as He is about to grant that precious and personal desire of your heart.
I love you.
